So I was watching one of herora-nuva's videos (the one where they talk about who taught the le-matoran bird speak) And they brought up the possible idea where Matoro worked with Kongu to teach him to speak to birds. And uhhhh idk the shipping spirit was working through me xD Honestly, it's almost fun to think about that even though romance isn't canon, it's just cute that the toa inika would be the most romantic toa team in the story. (At least I ship them the most with their fellow toa/matoran lol) ((for context, I ship: Jaller/Hahli, Nuparu/Onepu, Kongu/Matoro, Hewkii/Macku))Anyways, I think Kongu and Matoro would be the most quiet romance in Mata Nui. The two are basically on opposite sides of the island, they have duties to their own Koros, they would rarely have any time to meet up even on their days off. But they would definitely write tons and tons of letters to each other in their matoran years. While they're toa, they're also too busy to even get so romantic with each other, which could have strained things - but these two are more mature than that. They make their feelings clear with each other and they were ok with just that while on their mission. Reaffirmations of their love were all they needed and the promise that they would be together after all this.
Which uh... yeah we know where that ends up ;v; But Kongu I imagine is loyal to the end to Matoro, and Matoro trusted Kongu to the ends of the world.
