Moar Inika Designs!!!

 

Me realizing while drawing this that this year would mark 20 years passing since 2006 for Bionicle. OvO

Anyway, I've been meaning to draw more Inika bonkles as humans and since I've done Jaller, Hahli, and Kongu already, might as well doodle the other 3~ So here's what I came up with for Nuparu, Matoro, and Hewkii. I'm not really pleased with Hewkii's get up so that'll be subject to change in the future I think. (I really just ran out of ideas, but it never hurts to make another pass later on lol THE NECKLACE STAYS THO. NONEGOTIABLE) 

I've stated in previous posts that I wanted to take a more "street style" look with the Inika designs - it just felt like that was the direction Bionicle was going for in the year's overall look. I'm not quite comfortable drawing them yet, but I also take a different spin with each of the Toa Inika's weapons. I have vague ideas of what they could be so for the curious, here's what I imagine (yes they all keep their zamor sphere launchers in some way):

- Jaller: Duals swords with a small zamor launcher (still debating this)

- Hahli: Harpoon mixed with a launcher

- Hewkii: A long chain weapon with a blade/launcher at the end of it (Don't look at me like that, it's hard to explain)

- Matoro: Sword and launcher that can be combined to become a sniper rifle

- Nuparu: BIG EFFIN ZAMOR CANON

- Kongu: Dual Daggers that can shift into launchers

Does that sound excessive? Good. One day I'll have to draw them o<-< Still, what I'm kinda hoping to do with this is give a little more variety to the inika BEYOND just a sword and a launcher. And I know not all of the inika have the same weapons, but I think a lot of people can tell that compared to the years before, the sameness between all of the toa was kinda strange. I'm sure it was to cut down cost (for god sakes, the swords light up and the balls glow in the dark), but it's a bit disappointing at the same time. BUT.... that's my opinion. Bionicle never really did that again in the coming years for the Toa, so I think the Bionicle team at least listened.

... Hold up, after reading on biosector about the inika weapons, apparently they ARE different. They just happen to look all like swords... Still, I'm gonna change them up.

Idk what it is, but all I did was read a ship fic with Tamaru x Taipu and I was ALL OVER IT oh my god. So I just wanted to doodle a piece with them together being cute. I really enjoy the idea of Taipu (he/him) came for Le-Koro, but stayed for Tamaru (she/her, they/them). Or you know, stayed as long as he could, lol. Still, enjoy with me a couple of cuties~

Utopian Scholastic? (╭ರ_•́)?

For the LONGEST time, I've been trying to match a name to a genre of music that evokes the biggest sense of nostalgia out of me. My dad has been listening to similar style music for some time and when I ask him what genre it would be, he says "jazz." Which I don't think is entirely wrong, but not exactly correct. Every time I listen to this kind of music, I think of something dreamy and protective. Listening to it always calms me down and helps me focus.

And not too long ago, I found the answer: Utopian Scholastic.

Finding out about this term was like a flood gate being opened, memories hitting me all at once!! While I wasn't exactly a kid during the "start" of this aesthetic, I was alive when the tail end of this kind of media was still around. 

Just listening to this kind of music makes me feel like a kid again, watching educational documentaries or just reading an informational book with plenty of pictures to keep me interested. All I need is a huge magnifying glass and a globe to start learning about the world and all of its oddities. When you hear this kind of music, you should be ready to study up or learn something new about our planet. Or even the world beyond our skies. You get the picture.

I have no idea what going to school and learning is like now, I'm way past that age. However, I always wonder if there's anything like this kind of music that kids have now. Or is it just like pop music and "67" these days? It makes me feel lucky that I managed to grow up in times where memes didn't dictate my attention span or random "did you know" facts were spewed at me in short form content. I'm a hypocrite for saying it, cause that's basically how I am now... maybe not as much as some other people out there xD

Anyways, I mainly just made this post to share music I thought was really cool and how child me would've wanted to explore an endless library with this as the back track. Man, my eyes are really watery right now xD

Jaws of the Snake

 

  I know I just uploaded yesterday, but I was pretty excited when I finished this up. (not perfect, got lazy on some parts, but I think everything else looks good~)

I wanted to draw Zaktan again, last time I didn't really show off my idea of Skakdi's mouths looking smaller when not opened fully. But opening that mouth up, that's when you see those CHOMPERS.

I'm kinda making it on a whim. I've been missing the whole Deviant Art format of posting and feeling like I can post my art without worrying too much about an algorithm. I'm still new to Sheezy though and I'm mostly making an account to test the waters and see how everything goes. If it's chill, cool I'm staying. If not, I'll probably slink my way back here xD

And I'm not really looking for recognition, but I really have missed seeing people's reactions to my artwork. And it's not like I'm going to abandon this blog, I love this format a LOT. But I don't get to see too many people commenting on my stuff and can't easily catch it if they do. 

So hopefully things go well with Sheezy and I can get some of the DA nostalgia back. :)

Another Gali~

 

Hey friends :)

I've actually had this Gali pic in my folder for a while, but I've been a bit depressi lately. And you know what heals a depressed Ani? Some good ol' Bionicle content. So I'm kinda lucky I had this on hand.

I've been wanting to draw Humanized Gali a lot more lately. While she's not one of my favorite Bionicle, I love building on her character and design. Being depicted more muscley or a little more temperamental and stressed from all the responsibility she puts on herself. Or just trying to fit in with the Matoran's activities since almost every conversation with her fellow Toa end in combat or arguments. I can just see her now taking on swim races with the Matoran, doing her best and coming out on top, but the rest of the Matoran are kind of disappointed because she'd win no matter what. It's almost isolating, feeling guilty for not being able to fit in. But learns in the end that not all friendships can be won so quickly. It takes time and understanding.

And also I just like thinking of her having bad ass moments in story.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. I'm going to curl up in a blanket and try to forget about being depressed lol.
