I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving (if you celebrate it) or just had a good week in general!

I've completed another commission of Vakama and Eboni. (Humanized cause I admit it's easier for me to draw yvy')  But thank you to Eboni for supporting me! Give this post some love~!

Norik and Varian humanized

So I wanted to doodle what Norik and Varian looked like for a while now. In my au, Norik is she/her (mtf) and Varian has remained she/her. In this doodle, Varian is how she looked when her and Norik went on their last mission together and Norik is how she looks now.

This picture here is what Norik looked like when she was younger. 

I kind of imagine the Psionic Toa/Matoran have shaved/bald heads, or at least most of them do. It seems more of a cultural thing for them, a show of their dedication to their minds and its importance to them. They also have a love of piercings and jewelry, though it's more of the gold kind, along with being more spherical or round.

I really wished we could've seen Norik and Varian reunite, 'cause from my understanding, Varian survived the whole final battle ordeal, but is just sleeping inside her stasis tube.

Either way, I really like these two and how they turned out~

To celebrate my s/o's brithday, here's a piece of our ocs, Reed (left) and Morte (right), having a nice time drinking up a cola shake~ 

These two are quite the pair, Morte a more serious gal with a cold exterior and a warm heart, and then there's Reed who's a cheeky hot rod with an obsession of the 50's style. They may bicker at each other sometimes, but in the end they love their teasing and having each others' backs no matter what. And they have a wonderful kiddo together~

SO, like the changes I made to my site? Honestly thought it might be nice to have fun with the theme and make a few changes!

I don't think it's perfect, things could change in the future, BUT I am happier with how it looks now~ It speaks to my soul :3c

Nuparu Mahri

 

Back at it again with another humanization OvO This time I've done Nuparu! I was really excited to tackle Nuparu ever since that video Brian Ellis had made on designing the figure - which it's also so cool to get that insight into a toy like Bionicle. Here's the link if you want to check it out, it's Part 2 of a 3 part series.

Anyways, I wanted to "steel" up Nuparu. I plan for her 2006 Inika version to be more punk-ish, so this would be a more subtle step down. And seeing as Brian mentioning he was taking a more "stealth" approach to this version of Nuparu, I wanted to hammer that in a bit here. I also based her Mahri mutations off of a Barracuda fish - it felt fitting with Nuparu's color scheme and the addition of silver scales seemed appropriate. 

Also, talk about a glow up, here's her matoran design so you can really see the difference :O

Takadox (Mantis King)

BADABOOM!!

I'm excited with how Takadox turned out here. I wouldn't say I'm happy with the design overall, but the face (on mutated Takadox) makes me really happy~

But as you can see though, I've decided to put in his form before his mutation. Wanted to make him and the rest of his group look like old kings in faded away paintings. These Barraki are going to challenge me, but with how Takadox turned out, I'm kind of confident how things will go here! 

Maybe in future installations to the Barraki I'll keep their crowns on their heads... in some way. Some of their heads aren't exactly shaped for crowns, but it'll be a nice hint as to who they were long ago.

I'm taking Commissions for a while!

Youtube Stuff Ramble :|

Okay so it's not news that Youtube has been taking action to crack down on ad-blockers and time people out from watching videos if they detect it on a browser. I think I don't need to explain why this is annoying, but I do want to say how I feel about all of this.

So when I was a little younger, my experience of youtube was all through the ipod handed down to me from my brother, in the youtube app. Which though that, I BARELY got any ads - probably none at all. I have fond memories of watching my favorite youtubers, animators, and tv-shows all through youtube - yeah I had to watch the shows through split up parts, but I was able to get through Soul Eater like NOTHING. Having that experience got me through some pretty dreary times in my life.

Ok, got my childhood sentiments out of the way, I think it was around 2013 or 14 that youtube did an entire overhaul and created a new app or something, the one that we know now. You can fill in the blanks with youtube's track record thus far.

I still watch youtube on mobile and browser, though I have two different experiences depending on where I watch it. During the day, I flip on youtube on browser so I can listen to podcasts or music that I don't have. And at night, I lay down and use the mobile app to watch videos and make my brain mushy so I can sleep.

I've no problem with ads being used to support content creators if it just wasn't so INVASIVE. I'd give anything to bring back bottom banner ads if it meant I could listen to a music compilation or analysis video while I do chores without genshin impact shouting at me desperately to play it or T-mobile home internet musicals. Especially ads that last from a minute to practically 30 minutes. Who the hell makes a 30 minute ad? Pressing the skip button is practically a chore when I'm already focused on cleaning or drawing, so the mood is just nearly lost.

First world problems, am I right?

Anyways, gatekeeping and exclusivities never solve problems like what youtube is doing right now - in this case it drives some people away. 

I'll suffer through youtube ads, I still like watching content people create. I'm just tired. Youtube lost its luster. I hate having to sound like a doomer in saying this, and I really never want to be like that. There's always going to be ways to entertain yourself out there. Maybe this'll get more people to go outside more often or do other things. And I can't really spend money on the music I want to listen to, and this makes it a bit harder for me to discover new songs/bands.

'Discovery' is key when using youtube, cause you always find something new - doesn't have to be meaningful or the like, it could be meme posts or something dumb. And as a kid, youtube flung the doors of the internet wide open to me. But no, overall, this is not a way to say "the youtube from when I was a kid was better!" No, no it was not, pfpdff. 

This is just me saying, "Can you please stop being a wet rag, Youtube? Thanks :)"

You can agree or disagree with this, I don't mind. I'm not here to debate. Just needed to vent.

Alright, thanks for reading, I'm gonna open up Windows Media Player and play some music with the visualizer on.

Florienna (yet another redesign)

One last redesign, and this is practically a complete overhaul of the previous character. This is Florienna and her little Cattamole friend~ Her theme is obviously flowers and a little bit of fairy magic mixed together with the fact that she loves animals. 

Honestly I have been thinking about turning these three designs of these girls into a story - though I'm not really sure where to start with shaping the world they live in. I feel like most series that have magical girls/friends, stuff like that, always had a central theme of objects - fruits, colors, elements. While here with these characters, I only surrounded them with different kinds of things like vampires & hearts, technology & stars, and faeries & flowers.

There could be something there already that I can work with, but I'm not totally sure yet. Still, I really enjoyed making these redesigns and I think they're FAR better than what they were before. I especially enjoyed trying to draw something I don't usually doodle. I want to have the chance to practice more with it. 

Still, maybe these girls don't need a story or anything like that, they could just be there as cute images and inspirational designs~ We'll see what I do with them~
